Hide AdOrdinarily, the season begins in early August but last year's lengthy pause during the coronavirus lockdown has meant a later start for the forthcoming campaign.
The Premier League has also accommodated an agreed 30-day break for all clubs involved in the latter stages of the 2019/20 European club competitions, meaning both Manchester City and Manchester United's opening day fixtures have been postponed.
A date for the rescheduled games will be announced in due course.
The opening weekend's matches for both Chelsea and Wolves will take place on Monday 14 September.

The Premier League has increased the number of televised games from 200 to 220, with over half of the extra fixtures set to be shown live on Sky Sports.
Liverpool start with Leeds, and it seems highly likely that Sky Sports or BT Sport will televise the clash between the Premier League champions and Bielsa's Championship winners.
The TV selections for the early round of games and those to be shown live on Sky Sports will be confirmed early next week.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit, extraordinary measures were taken to get fixtures completed including playing blocks of fixtures behind closed doors and for the first time in its history, the BBC picked up live Premier League games.
That change has been abandoned for the Premier League 2020-21 season, meaning that there are currently no plans to broadcast any Leeds United games on free-to-air TV.
